The language of the educational process

On January 16, 2021, Article 30 of the Law of Ukraine "On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language" entered into force.

The main requirements of the legislation regarding the state language in educational institutions: Article 30 of the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language” concerns the field of education.

Educational institutions are legal entities that provide educational services, that is, a set of actions defined by legislation, an educational program and/or contract, which have a defined cost and are aimed at the student of education achieving the expected learning outcomes (Clause 18 of Part 1 of Article 1 of the Law of Ukraine “On Education “).

THE LANGUAGE OF THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS IS THE STATE LANGUAGE

According to Article 7 of the Law of Ukraine “On Education”, the language of the educational process in educational institutions is the state language. The state guarantees every citizen of Ukraine the right to receive formal education at all levels (preschool, general secondary, professional (vocational and technical), vocational pre-university and higher), as well as extracurricular and post-graduate education in the state language in state and communal educational institutions.

Persons belonging to the national minorities of Ukraine and indigenous peoples are guaranteed the right to study in communal educational institutions to obtain preschool and primary education in the language of the respective national minority or indigenous people, along with the state language.

ALL EMPLOYEES OF THE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION KNOW THE STATE LANGUAGE

Officials and officials of enterprises, institutions and organizations of state and communal forms of ownership, i.e. heads of educational institutions, employees of educational management bodies, pedagogical, scientific-pedagogical and scientific workers, except for foreigners or stateless persons who are invited to educational and/or scientific institutions institutions and work on a temporary basis as scientific, pedagogical, scientific-pedagogical workers or teachers of a foreign language, are required to know the state language and use it during the performance of official duties (Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language” ).
